Motor Insurance

Overview

AAR Motor Insurance protects you against the cost of accidental loss of or damage to your car and against your liability to other road users. Two levels of cover are available for private vehicles: Third Party Only (TPO), the minimum cover required by law, and Comprehensive, the widest cover, which also protects your own vehicle.

You can get an instant quote for either level online. Third Party cover is bought entirely online — pay securely by M-Pesa or card and your DMVIC insurance certificate is issued automatically the moment your payment is confirmed.

Comprehensive cover requires a vehicle valuation, so once you request it our team gets in touch to complete the valuation and finalise your cover. On comprehensive you can also add optional protections such as an Excess Protector, Political Violence & Terrorism, Road Rescue and a Courtesy Car.

What’s covered

Third Party (TPO) & Comprehensive cover for private cars
Third-party bodily injury & property damage liability

Cover options

Third Party Only (TPO)

The minimum cover required by law in Kenya: death or bodily injury to third parties and damage to their property. It does not cover your own vehicle, and it is bought entirely online with an instant DMVIC certificate.

Comprehensive

Our widest cover: third-party liability plus loss of or damage to your own vehicle from accident, fire, theft and more, with optional add-ons available. Comprehensive requires a vehicle valuation, so our team completes it with you after you request a quote.

Frequently asked questions

Two levels for private vehicles: Third Party Only (TPO), the legal minimum that covers your liability to others, and Comprehensive, which also covers loss of or damage to your own vehicle.

Yes. Every vehicle on Kenyan roads must have at least Third Party motor insurance by law. Comprehensive cover builds on that minimum by also protecting your own vehicle.

Yes. Third Party (TPO) is bought entirely online — get your quote, pay securely by M-Pesa or card, and your DMVIC certificate is issued automatically the moment your payment is confirmed.

You get an instant comprehensive quote online, and because comprehensive requires a vehicle valuation, our team then gets in touch to complete the valuation and finalise your cover.

It is the digital motor insurance certificate issued through the IRA’s DMVIC system as proof of valid cover. For Third Party cover it is issued automatically as soon as your online payment is confirmed.

For Comprehensive cover the premium is based mainly on your vehicle’s value and details, while Third Party premiums are set by vehicle class. You see your exact premium when you build a quote.

On comprehensive cover you can add options such as an Excess Protector, Political Violence & Terrorism, Road Rescue and a Courtesy Car when you build your quote.
